Hahaha had to share these pics of Lucy in the bandanas! The expressions on her face crack me up!

FINALLY [06 Dec 2008|01:20pm]

We finally figured it out! The snuggly warm dog hat and scarf is finally here! After some long, hard, tedious work, we finally got them past production! We made them in 3 sizes, XS, SM, M/L. We're also almost done with the slotted hats for the ears to poke out of. I'll post images of those when they're finally ready as well!

Thanks everyone for all the feedback and suggestions! You flippin' ROCK!

My sisters dogs. [21 Nov 2008|01:07pm]

[18 Oct 2008|12:23pm]

So last night I was going through last winter's bag of ideas for winter dog hats and I found this funny red corduroy one which Stewie just loves to wear. I always laugh so hard when he wears this one but it poses a good question for this season's line of winter-wear....

What is in more of demand by the customer???
a) Dog hats with cute lil teddy ears on the side or
b) Dog hats with lil slits for the pet's real ears to poke out of?

Help me out here... Let's put it to a VOTE!

Our last meet had almost 20 corgis at one point running around.

Boxer in need of a forever home... [02 Aug 2007|08:44am]

[ mood | hopeful ]

Name: Taelor
Age: 7 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 57 lbs
Kids: Ok Cats: No Dogs: Ok

I am a member of the Florida Boxer Rescue organization and have been fostering a female boxer named Taelor. She is 7 years old and a very sweet and loving dog. My husband and I would keep her if we didn't already have 2 boxers:) I think she would do best with an older couple with or without another furry friend to play with. She loves to play but loves even more to just sit beside you and give kisses and be petted.

Please feel free to check her out at FLBR.org, Available Boxers. We have quite a few of other boxers waiting for their forever homes!:) You would need to fill out an adoption application if interested. Thanks for looking! Boxers are the BEST!

Doberman in need of a home! [19 Mar 2007|05:12pm]

This adult male doberman was dumped behind my apartment building today. He looks to be about 4+ yrs old. A little gray in the muzzle and paws. HE IS NOT FIXED. He seems to be in good health, but he is underweight and he's obviously lead a hard life. He's missing a few teeth. He has shown NO aggression whatsoever towards adults. I DO NOT KNOW how he is with children or other animals. He seemed playful with another (much smaller dog) but they were not together long. I have not heard him growl at all. He allowed me to inspect his mouth, and to take away food without any aggression at all. My neighbor is keeping him at his place for now. We'd love to find him a forever home.

Hi there, just joined... this community doesn't seem to be too active lately but whatever! I'll see what response I can get.
I'm currently in NW FLorida and I'm planning on moving to Tampa later this year, I have a dog and a cat that I plan on taking with me.
Does anyone know of decent priced pet friendly apartments? Also, what are some pet friendly places other than dog parks? I know when I was visiting Tampa last month my friend and I discovered "Yappy Hour" in a bar in Ybor City. Every other Sunday they let the customers bring their dogs in with them, it was awesome. Are there other places like that in the area?

Thanks for any help!

Now that we're going to be moving to Tampa... [11 Nov 2006|08:40am]

[ mood | excited ]

...we're quite excited about the move to Tampa, although we're starting to do our reserach as well concerning dog friendly places. As we were geocaching the day before my husband's interview, we saw that there was at least one dog park located downtown Tampa (I believe it was in some type of cancer memorial park). Considering how much are Goober loves people and other animals, we were overjoyed to see that. We were also talking to a waitress and she said something about how some restaurants allow dogs (not just service dogs) into their restaurants. So, my loaded question for all of you is, being new, what can you tell me about how dog friendly Tampa and the surrounding cities are? Are there any locations to live at that you would recommend staying away from in terms of crime to animals? What's this about dogs being able to go into restaurants? Are there dog friendly events in Tampa and the surrounding areas? Any further information you can give us would be great! My husband is going to be moving there in the next several weeks to start his position and scope out the area... I'll be following with our "kids" (Buttercup and the 3 cats) once the house is sold.

*Your name? the-pixie
*Dog(s) name? Buttercup, although she goes by Goober as well
*Location? Indianapolis, but moving to Tampa in the next several months
*Dog(s) breed and age? They told us Husky/Shar Pei when we rescued her at 4 months old. Personally, I think she is more Husky/Golden Lab. She's now 2 and full of energy
*You and your dog's favorite place around Tampa? I can speculate that it will be something to do with wide open spaces, chasing things, or water

FOUND GIRL BOXER, NEEDS HOME! [30 Aug 2006|08:02pm]

Hello everyone! This is my first entry and it's not even about me:)

A girl boxer puppy found her way to my boyfriend's parents home last Friday and she has no tags or microchip. We are looking for someone that would like to adopt her into their loving home. She is well behaved, friendly, sweet and very loving. She is potty trained, can sit and will come to you when you call her. We have been calling her MiniMe because she looks identical to our boxer, Maddie. She is fawn and white and in between 6-10 months old. We do not know if she has been spayed.

If anyone is interested, please reply to this post! Tell friends and family! We would love to keep her but already have 2 boxers and a cat and our house is just not that big:)

Thank you for reading this:)

PLEASE HELP [26 Jun 2006|09:55am]

A cute little dog is lost in our neighborhood. He is sooo adorable. He's a Pekingese Male, probably at least 5 years old. Neutered, clean, well mannered. Doesn't cry/whine. He's cuter than cute. Unfortunately, we can't keep him or even take him inside at all, because we have 2 very large VERY dog-agressive dogs.

I really need someone to keep him for a couple days until his owner calls. I walked around in the rain yesterday, putting up signs (in gallon ziploc bags), knocked on several doors, etc. and had NO luck. I took him to petsmart to get him out of the rain, found out he was micro-chipped. Unfortunately, that led to a dead end. The chip was never registered by the owner. Only the name of the Vet comes up with the chip number. I called that vet. They are in Plant City (we are in temple terrace). They cannot find records for that chip number. They said it was probably done several years ago and they are using a different type of chip now.

Please, someone help. Robin said he has to go to the pound, TODAY. :( :( :(
Hopefully it will only be temporary.

Here's a pic of his cuteness:

Please make sure your dogs have some type of identification (tag, chip, tattoo, heck, all three) and are properly contained. Probably a good idea to neuter and spay as well. Especially if you own large dogs.

Animal Services brought us a rottie today, a gorgeous intact (not neutered) male. He was found roaming the streets with a female dog. The exact circumstances were not known, but supposedly this rottie charged for a police officer and the officer shot it in the face. The dog had no identification. The injuries were quite serious, but the dog could have been saved. Instead, we had to put the dog to sleep. What a waste.

Last week we had the same situation with a pitbull.

Rotties and pits are two of my favorite breeds. Neither of these dogs had to die.

My own rottie boy was once a street dog, not neutered. He could have been one of those dogs lying shot, dead, in a hospital freezer. Lucky for him a rescue group got to him first. Too bad every dog doesn't get that second chance.
